Video Games In a Darker Light – Shadow Series by Gamertee

The website gamertee.co.uk has a series of video game inspired prints call the Shadow Series. I don’t really have much to say about them other than they a really, really cool. I’ll show some of my favorites, but as always check out the gallery for a lot more.

The Golden Age of Piracy Returns in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag

I’m a little sad that compared to Ezio, Connor’s story was just over and done with. I really like the pirates theme, I just think that the American Revolution and early America had plenty more to explore, though I guess the Vita one took care of some of that. But the ship combat was one …

Mega64: Introducing Assassin’s Creed V, VI, and VIII

Mega64 It’s pretty strange how Assassin’s Creed became that kind of once a year game. Then again, a lot of game franchises have become once a year releases that we normally use to associate with sports games and Call of Duty. I guess it’s because for games like Assassin’s Creed II, each game that came …

This Guy is Every Stealthy Game Character – Sneak Attack!

There really are so many different ways to approach a stealthy game, which this video highlights quite nicely. Though I didn’t see Dishonored being shown there (the mask may have been too much) but other than that I thought this was a nice tribute to sneaking up on people and stabbing them in the back.

Speculation Friday: Game Crossovers I Would Like to See

So in the latest Nintendo Direct, Mr. Satoru Iwata introduced something that I never would have expected: a crazy crossover between Shin Megami Tensei and Fire Emblem. It seems to be a trend since I think Pokemon Conquest was fairly well received, which itself was a crazy cross over between Pokemon and Nobunaga’s Ambition. Other …

Go Go Gadgit Game: Can Too Much Variety Hurt?

Who doesn’t love options, especially in games. There is nothing better than surveying an enemy encampment, trying to decide if you feel more like sitting back and sniping, sneaking around for the silent attack, or just a good old fashioned run and gun, complete with massive fiery explosions. Having so many options is a recent, …

ChaoyuanXu – Assassin’s Creed in Asia

Deviantartist named ChaoyuanXu has created some fantastic fan art of what might be the next Assassin’s Creed game. This time, taking place in Asia.     While the fanart is fantastic, I think the idea of an Asian Assassin’s Creed would be cool, but unlikely. I’ve heard a lot of reasons for why it won’t …

The Factual and the Fictional Assassin’s Creed

Now I knew that Assassin’s Creed took a lot of actual history to use as the backdrop for the game, I even knew a bit about the actual Knights Templar. But, I had no idea that an actual group of assassins existed. Of course, I didn’t play the first one so I don’t know if …

Nathan Drake Vs. Altair – Killing Machine Deathmatch

I have a theory, that Nathan Drake might actually be an Assassin. It would explain a lot of his super human abilities. Plus all the magic and mystical stuff he finds on his journeys could just be “space wizards”. Overall, this was a pretty well put together little fight scene. I enjoyed two particular aspects …

IGN’s Interview With Lindsey Stirling

A pretty decent interview with the video game violinist Lindsey Stirling. As you can probably tell, she is rather quirky (what kind of person would name their violin Excalibur?), but of course that makes it all so much more fun to watch and listen to her perform. If you want to see some of the …

Assassin’s Fanart – Moni158

So during my internet blackout, I beat the story for Assassin’s Creed III. The hardest part of that was the inability to look up more info and far art about the game, which is what I usually do.   Well, luckily it didn’t take too long to find some cool Assassin’s Creed fanart by DeviantArtist …

Gamespot: Are Modern Games Being Dumbed Down – My Response

This is an interesting video that examines whether games are being “dumbed down” to make it more mass appealing. What makes this really interesting is that some big names in the industry such as Cliff Bleszinski and Ed McMillen are the ones criticizing it. I feel like this video doesn’t do a good enough job …

Narratology and the In-Game Narrator

Narratology–the study of narrative–is historically limited to discussion of told stories, simply because its early figureheads tended to be concerned with the written word (and later, the spoken word). This may seem obvious, but it isn’t–these told stories are defined by occurring in the past. In fact, in Gerald Prince’s first edition of his Dictionary …

Old School vs. New School

Now this is the kind of game I want to see. All these major video game characters against…I don’t really care. Also, instead of a fighting games, I really do think that Sony should have made a third-person shooter. This video shows us that it would actually be kind of badass to have Nathan Drake …

Gaming’s Biggest Badasses Assembled

What do Gorden Freeman, Ezio Auditore, Solid Snake, Master Chief, Samus Aran, and Mario all have in common? Well they are gaming’s biggest badasses and here’s a pic of all of them assembled for the first time outside of a textured hacked copy of Brawl.
