What caught my eye about this is David Jaffe. Ever since he gave a talk about how video game writers need to rethink how to tell their stories I’ve been trying to follow what he says.
Jaffe makes a lot of great points in this, and naturally I agree with him. Awesome movie or holodeck? I would choose holodeck everytime and I disagree with Bissell that sometimes we need to disengage to reengage with the game because games like Metroid Prime, Republic Commando, Half-Life 2, they tell their story without ever taking you out of the game for too long and the breather they were talking about takes place with the atmosphere of the level.
