“In November 1972 they would release Pong, the first hit arcade video game. Nothing else in gaming and entertainment would ever be the same again.”
These words hold so much truth. Pong is probably what I would call the purest video game, in that it is a game that is played digitally, with nothing extraneous about it. It is simple enough to allow anyone to play it, and flexible enough to still require some skill to master it, or at least beat your friends.
I wish I could’ve been born in the time when these things were taking off. I would have liked to play the Atari when it was in it’s haydays. Oh well, at least I still have the “I was a kid when 3D gaming became mainstream.
